Bar And Restaurant Security©
You know whats happening...you see it happening to other bars and taverns.  The
SLA is cracking down on "Bouncers" because they are not certified as security
guards.  However, just hiring someone who IS certified or licensed is NOT the end of
the process!   You want to comply, but the rules are confusing, there are plenty of
regulations that must be followed, more paper work to do, more records to keep,
more responsibility than ever!  But if you don't do it, you face fines and possible
suspension of your license or both.  So whats the law? Whats the rules? What do you
have to do??  The Answers are below....
along with 2 solutions!

The Law!

First, if you are going to hire people as security guards, you must register your
bar/tavern with the Department of State as a proprietary security guard company.
Then you must understand what the law says.  Following is the link to the rules and
regulations.  Please take a few minutes and look them over!
NYS Department of State Security Guard Licensing Law

In a nut shell, it says anyone doing security must be licensed, all Due Diligence must
done, training must be up to date, employees must be registered, including
fingerprints and all proper forms and application fees must be submitted. Also,
anytime some one is hired, fired or resigns, the DOS must be notified and all
records updated!  Again, please read through the law!

As you can see, there is plenty of work to be done to be compliant with the
law.  If your like any of the bar owners I know, you really cant be bothered
with more rules and regulations, more paperwork to do, more records to
keep, etc.   Well, the answer to this problem is easy.  Fishhead Security
Services and Investigations LLC.  Fishhead is duly licensed as a watch
guard and patrol agency and as a private detective agency.
